Clyde & Co LLP Blank Canvas Prize 2017
Now in its seventh year, the Clyde & Co LLP Blank Canvas Prize continues to build upon its reputation within Art Schools as being one of the most exciting and well regarded opportunities for final year Fine Art Undergraduates throughout the UK. This year’s winner is Zsuzsa Benke, a graduate from Chelsea College of Arts with her work: Not Just What You Say, But The Way You Look At Me.
We humans are usually satisfied caring only about what we see, and neglecting realities with effects outside of our daily routine. Ocean pollution, environmental catastrophes, species extinction, global warming and countless medical health care problems are some of the results. We live in a world where the importance of profit overrides the way we look at our health or even the Earth.
With a collage illustrating NASA’s ‘Earthsong’, a reference to coral bleaching and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, Zsuzsa’s aim with this project is to generate discussions around our individual and collective responsibilities towards our future on this planet.
Zsuzsa’s piece was digitally created as a print on an advertisement banner and installed using eyelets and bungee cord.
