Workplace Art commissioned a powder coated aluminium and stainless steel mobile installation by Jamie & Juliet Gutch, which has been installed within the glass prow of the John Lewis Department Store situated in the new Westfield Stratford City shopping centre. As the gateway to London’s Olympic Park, it is part of one of the largest urban regeneration projects ever undertaken in the UK.
These pictures, taken at the fabricators in Leicestershire, illustrate the largest section of four mobiles just as it was about to be lifted by crane in order to assess for the first time the curvature, positioning and interaction of each section. Needless to say it was very windy! The piece, titled An Exaltation of Larks, was installed in August, 2011.
