We were asked by the client and the architects, GMW Partnership
to bring a sense of warmth, colour and movement to this ground floor
entrance and atrium space.
We commissioned a large scale rug (6m x 4m) incorporating Reuter's
corporate colours, to act as an 'island of warmth' against the marble
flooring and also to accommodate the reception seating.
In the staff restaurant we were faced with the absence of any suitable
walls on which to hang art, so we proposed painting each of the
five large plaster columns with a different bright and vibrant mural
design.
We overcame the difficulties posed by the infrared smoke detector
system in the main atrium by commissioning a fixed and tensioned
textile installation consisting of a series of 'tumbling' kites,
giving the impression of movement.
